Lynton & Lynmouth, with Brendon, Scarecrow Festival

Introduction

Every August the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth in north Devon, together with the neighbouring village of Brendon, hold a Scarecrow Festival, during which many villagers decorate their gardens or other spots in their village with an ingenious variety of scarecrows. Some of them are life size, many just a little less than life size, and some are quite tiny.

This little set of pages shows a few of them from August 2006. It is far from being comprehensive, although I believe it includes most of those from the hamlets of Barbrook and Lynbridge, and from Brendon, and many from Lynton. Unfortunately I didn't have time on my brief visit to look at those in Lynmouth. I have put those from each hamlet/village on a separate page to avoid any page becoming too big.
